Catch Lore Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Vladyslav Openko (“we”, “the developer”), the developer of the Catch Lore mobile application (“the app”), collects, uses, and protects your information. We process personal data in accordance with the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws.

Catch Lore is available on iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play). This policy applies to both platforms.

Our approach: local-first

Catch Lore is built “local-first”. Your catches, fishing spots, lures, and photos are stored on your device by default. Creating an account is optional and is required only if you want cloud backup and sync across devices.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking/analytics SDKs.

Data we collect

We only collect data you choose to provide by using the app:

• Catch entries, fishing spots, and lures — the information you enter (fish, weight, notes, spot names, etc.).
• Photos — images you attach to catches or spots.
• Precise location (GPS) — the coordinates of a catch or spot, collected only when you choose to add location and grant the location permission through your device’s permission prompt.
• Account data — if you create an account: your email address and an authentication credential (your password is handled and securely stored by our authentication provider; we do not store it in plain text).
• Subscription / purchase information — if you buy a subscription, your purchase status and history (managed via the app store and RevenueCat). Payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) depending on your platform; we never receive your full payment card details.
• A subscription identifier — our subscription provider (RevenueCat) assigns an anonymous identifier to manage your subscription entitlement.

How we use your data

• To provide core app functionality (log catches, show them on a map, compute bite forecasts, manage lures).
• To sync and back up your data to the cloud if you sign in.
• To provide weather and bite-activity forecasts (see “Weather” below).
• To manage subscriptions and unlock Pro features.

We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

Weather

To show weather and bite-activity forecasts, the app sends approximate location coordinates to Open-Meteo to retrieve weather data for that location. Open-Meteo processes this only to return the requested forecast.

Maps

The app displays maps of your catches and spots using the operating system’s map service: Apple Maps on iOS and Google Maps on Android. Map rendering may involve sending location/coordinate data to the respective map provider.

Storage and transfers

• Local data stays on your device by default.
• When you sign in, your content (catches, spots, lures, photos) syncs to Supabase servers located in the EU (Ireland).
• All data transmitted between the app and our services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).

Service providers

We rely on the following processors, who handle data only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase — cloud database, authentication, and file (photo) storage for the sync/backup feature.
• Open-Meteo — weather data.
• RevenueCat — subscription management and validation.
• Apple (App Store) / Google (Google Play) — app distribution and in-app purchase/payment processing.
• Apple Maps (iOS) / Google Maps (Android) — map rendering.

Data retention and deletion

• Local data exists until you delete it or uninstall the app.
• Cloud data exists while your account is active.
• You can delete your account and all cloud data in-app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. When you delete your account, your account and all associated cloud data — including your photos — are permanently deleted.
• You can also export your data as CSV from within the app.
• To request deletion or exercise other rights by email, contact catchlore.app@gmail.com.

Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, delete, and export your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, use the in-app controls or contact catchlore.app@gmail.com.

Children

Catch Lore is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age required by your jurisdiction (e.g., 16 in the EU, 13 elsewhere). If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
